Privacy policy · Updated October 9, 2026

Privacy, in plain language.

Deviation Lens is a browser extension that scans a page for supported image files when you open or rescan the extension, and refreshes results when you change the active page.

Information the extension processes

The extension uses Chrome’s Tabs permission to identify the active tab and follow tab switches and page navigation. It reads image URLs, image dimensions, page headings, and related page details only on DeviantArt or on additional sites you approve after enabling “Find images on any page.” Scan results are processed in the browser and are not sent to a developer-operated server.

Information stored locally

Preferences such as Explore filtering, image display options, and download mode are stored using Chrome extension storage. If you connect a custom folder, its access handle is stored locally in the extension’s browser database. The extension does not include analytics, advertising, or an account service.

Downloads and third-party services

When you download an image or inspect its file size, the browser requests the image from its source host. Those requests are governed by the source host’s privacy practices. The extension does not control how DeviantArt or image hosts process their own requests.

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

Use of information accessed through Chrome browser APIs is limited to providing the extension’s disclosed image-scanning and download features, and to maintaining those features. Deviation Lens does not sell scan data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to a developer-operated service. No person on the project team reads scan data. When you choose to download or inspect an image, the request goes to the image source host, which applies its own privacy practices. This use follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Children and changes

Deviation Lens is a general browser utility and does not knowingly collect personal information. This policy may be updated if the extension’s behavior changes; the effective date above will be revised.
